Here to Their’s 2011 partnership is our first local project. We have decided to work with Shamrock Gardens Elementary School in Charlotte, NC.
Shamrock Gardens Elementary School: A kindergarten through fifth grade, partial magnet school comprised of approximately 369 students, 94.6% of whom are considered economically disadvantaged. Located in the Plaza Midwood area, this school is home to a diverse student population and is gaining support from their community through the efforts of their PTA, but suffers hardships due to limited funding and resources. They have been working to improve their student’s academic scores and have succeeded in ending their Title 1 status as of the 2011-2012 school year. For more information on Title 1 and the No Child Left Behind act please visit www.ncpublicschools.org/nclb/.
